Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous knowledge management experience?
No formal knowledge management qualification or previous KM job title is required. Approximately two years of relevant experience, or equivalent responsibility, is recommended. Experience in learning and development, operations, projects, service delivery, information management or organisational learning will help you connect the activities to workplace needs.
Can I complete the programme while working full-time?
Yes. The programme is delivered online through self-paced learning, so you can organise your study around work and other commitments. The estimated learning time is 40 hours: four hours of preparation, 24 hours across nine core modules, and 12 hours of portfolio refinement and assessment. Allow time to arrange your short knowledge transfer demonstration with a consenting peer or colleague, or through a Baugment-arranged assessed role-play.
How will I access the learning materials?
Learning materials are available through Baugment’s online learning platform using your registered email address. These include video lessons, readings, quizzes, assignment guidance, templates and a supplied case pack for practical activities. A desktop or laptop is recommended for organising knowledge assets, completing evaluations and developing your portfolio. Access instructions will be provided during onboarding.
How long will I have access to the programme?
You will have ongoing access to the course materials for as long as the programme remains available on Baugment’s learning platform. We recommend completing the learning activities, examination and portfolio assessment within 12 months of starting. This is a recommended completion timeframe, not an access expiry date.
Do I need to purchase any software?
No specialist KM platform or paid AI subscription is required. You can use familiar document, spreadsheet and approved collaboration tools to complete the practical activities. Supplied sources and sandbox outputs support the search and AI evaluation tasks. Third-party software licences are not included, and you do not need to purchase every tool discussed in the programme.
What will I create during the programme?
You will develop one Knowledge Management Pilot Portfolio comprising seven connected components: a needs and risk assessment; a strategy, governance and adoption plan; validated knowledge assets; an organised collection with retrieval tests; a knowledge transfer demonstration; a learning and innovation record; and a digital evaluation and pilot recommendation. You can use the supplied case or authorised workplace evidence, building your work across nine modules and refining it during the after-course stage.
What support and feedback will I receive?
Instructions, templates, worked examples and practical guidance support your progress throughout the programme. Moderated discussions help you explore KM decisions and exchange perspectives. Lead assessors provide written feedback on your submitted portfolio to guide revision and further development. Guidance on arranging the knowledge transfer demonstration and accessing support will be provided during onboarding.
What does the complimentary career advisory include?
After graduation, you can receive one complimentary, one-to-one live online session to discuss your career goals, how to present your KM portfolio and your next professional-development steps. The discussion can focus on a dedicated KM role or applying knowledge management within your existing responsibilities. The session is available within 30 days of graduation.
