Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous career development experience?
Previous experience in career development or a related field, such as HR, talent development, vocational education or employment support, is recommended. The programme is designed for intermediate and senior practitioners, so familiarity with workplace development or supporting others’ careers will help you apply the concepts and complete the portfolio.
Can I complete the programme while working full-time?
Yes. The programme is delivered online through self-paced learning, so you can organise your study around work and other commitments. The estimated learning time is 40 hours: four hours of preparation, 24 hours across nine core modules and 12 hours of portfolio refinement and assessment. Your actual time may vary depending on your experience and portfolio revisions.
How will I access the learning materials?
Learning materials are available through Baugment’s online learning platform using your registered email address. These include video lessons, readings, quizzes, case materials, portfolio guidance and templates. A desktop or laptop is recommended for workforce analysis, document preparation and portfolio development. Access instructions will be provided during onboarding.
How long will I have access to the programme?
You will have ongoing access to the course materials for as long as the programme remains available on Baugment’s learning platform. We recommend completing the learning activities, examination and portfolio assessment within 12 months of starting. This is a recommended completion timeframe, not an access expiry date.
Do I need specialist software or assessment tools?
No specialist HR software or paid assessment licence is required. You can use document, spreadsheet and presentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace or suitable alternatives. Course templates support your practical work, while public career and labour-market resources inform your analysis. AI tools are optional; you remain responsible for verifying their output and protecting confidential information.
What will I create, and can I use my own organisation?
You will develop seven connected portfolio components based on one real or hypothetical organisation, progressing from needs analysis and competency assessment to career pathways, development planning, appraisal, implementation and evaluation. You may use a supplied case or authorised workplace evidence. Each component builds on earlier work, and the complete portfolio is submitted and assessed as a whole.
What support and feedback will I receive?
Instructions, templates, worked examples and practical guidance support your progress throughout the programme. You can exchange ideas and experiences through the participant discussion forum. Lead assessors provide written feedback on your submitted portfolio to guide revision and strengthen your professional judgement. Information about support channels will be provided during onboarding.
What does the complimentary career advisory include?
After graduation, you can receive one complimentary, one-to-one live online session to discuss your career goals, how to present your portfolio and your next professional-development steps.
